ARES creates more samples and textures than the rest of the Mirzapur-Bhadohi carpet belt combined.

There is no request we cannot accomodate

Our complete vertically integrated facilities give us the ability to customise and control quality at every level- fibre selection, yarn construction, colour dyeing, texture, scale.

There is no stage of production we do not directly control, which means there is no request we cannot accommodate. If you can describe what you want, we have the infrastructure and the techincal knowlegde to build it.
RAW MATERIAL

Fibres across the world. Sourced by the
founder personally

Ranbir Sahani has spent decades sourcing the world’s finest fibres - wool from Iran, Turkey, Tibet, Mongolia and Afghanistan; mohair from South Africa; silk from India; cashmere, jute, hemp and cotton from across Asia and beyond.

With 500+ yarns in our library, we create exclusive fibre blends through specialised spinning techniques, including pioneering recycled yarns for rug making.

DYEING

Color. From pomegranate shells
and walnut rinds.

Every dye meets our standards for colorfastness and sustainability. Yarns are mordanted before dyeing to ensure lasting colour.

With 100+ natural shades sourced from around the world - including madder, pomegranate and indigo, every colour is developed in-house. We also use chrome, acid and VAT dyes where required, keeping every stage under our control.

THE MILL

Woven, washed, finished. All under one roof.

Our yarns are hand spun and hand carded, creating the strength, patina, abrash and organic character that machines cannot replicate. We developed our own carding machines to revive a centuries-old technique.

Across 150 oversized looms, our weavers bring generations of expertise to every piece. Each rug follows a documented finishing process — washing, stretching, clipping and more — until it matches the original vision.

The Color Lab

Every color is developed in our in-house lab, tested for colorfastness under multiple chemicals, and checked under different light sources - daylight, tungsten, fluorescent, UV.

What you specify is what you receive. We offer over 100 natural colours, and because every stage happens here, any colour can be matched, modified, and reproduced with precision.

Our values

Confidentiality

A design made for one client is never duplicated for another customer.

Integrity

We will never approach your customers directly and we do not work with competing retailers. Every relationship we have is built on the understanding that your trust is not transferable.

Transparency

We will transparently communicate the cost of raw materials used and their source, and collaborate with you to lower costs without changing the look and feel, if needed.

It is simply how we work, and the reputation we have built this business on.

Once people work with us, they tend to stay.

every relationship, and every standard is exactly where it should be.

Our Partners

In collaboration with WWF and Christopher Farr, we manufactured all the rugs for the global tiger conservation fundraiser, auctioned at Sotheby's New Bond Street. These were designed by some of the biggest artists in the world including Ai Weiwei, Anish Kapoor, Peter Doig and Kiki Smith.

Manavbir Singh Sahani

An Indian, born in Iran, citizen of the US, founded ARES thirty-five years ago with one intention — to make the best rugs in the world. Trained as a Mechanical Engineer at IIT Roorkee, fluent in Farsi and the persian culture, he sources raw materials personally from shepherds across the world and has built a texture library that no manufacturer in the industry has come close to matching.

Manavbir Sahani spent the past decade across nine cities on three continents — Fortune 500 companies, a VC-backed AI startup in San Francisco, and projects across rural South Asia. A dual masters from Harvard and MIT, and a UC San Diego undergraduate degree in the top one percent of his class. He came back to ensure ARES meets the same uncompromising global standards he was held to abroad.
